2023-24 features Guest Artist appearances at universities throughout the US, where Jesse will be leading composer-performer collaboration workshops (with flutist Anne Dearth Maker), lectures on meaning in music, and discussion sessions centered on the practical aspects of a life in contemporary music.

These activities will be accompanied by performances of Whistleblower, a new solo piccolo piece, by Anne Maker.

In Spring 2024, the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble premiered a set of songs from Devolving Songs, an ambitious project setting Wallace Stevens’ From the Misery of Don Joost.

Having finished Devolving Songs, Jesse is now working on another large-scale project, Sun Shower for orchestra. This piece, inspired by the powerful, fast-changing weather of Northeast Texas, will be performed by the McGill University Orchestra in the 2024-25 season.
